DR. KONSTANTIN FRANK
Visit the Finger Lakes winery founded by the legendary Dr. Konstantin Frank, pioneer grower of European wine grape varieties in the eastern United States, on Keuka Lake in New York State. Founded in 1962, Vinifera Wine Cellars was the first Finger Lakes winery to produce truly world-class wines. They include: Johannisberg Riesling-Dry and Semi-Dry, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Rkatsiteli, Fleur de Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and others. To this day, Vinifera Wine Cellars - now in the capable hands of Dr. Frank's son, Willy and grandson Fred - is regarded as a pillar of the area's fine wine industry.

Its sister winery, Chateau Frank, is dedicated to producing outstanding sparkling wines. Chateau Frank's flagship Brut Champagne has received countless accolades and has caught the attention of wine experts from coast to coast.

Chateau Frank Celebre

This delicious, fruity Cremant style sparkling wine is a very inviting, easy-to- drink sparkling wine. Apple, honey and spicy aromas on a solid acidic backbone gives this wine a great balance and fruity forwardness.  A touch of sweetness makes it the perfect celebratory sparkler.

Chateau Frank Brut

This wine presents the classic characteristics of a French Champagne with its toasty yeast character, persistent foam and tiny bubbles. A great balance is achieved between the fruity contributions of the Pinot Noir and the acidic backbone of the Chardonnay resulting in a long clean finish. This wine shows great complexity with citrus flavors and mineral characters.

 Dr. Frank Chardonnay

The 2003 bottling presents the green gold hue typical of cool-climate Chardonnay. The floral and fruity bouquet of this wine with mineral and toasty elements is in harmony with this style of Chardonnay. The aromas of peach, quince and melon on the nose give way to a supple texture with great fruit concentration, vibrant acidity and a long finish.

This wine will continue to develop layers of nuances for years to come. This Chardonnay exemplifies the food friendly style that we strive for at Dr. Frank's with good acidity, integrated and not overwhelming oak, moderate alcohol and a wine not dominated by the malolactic character.

 Dr. Frank Dry Riesling

This dry Riesling, presenting a green gold hue, displays the traditional qualities of Dr. Frank’s Riesling: crisp acidity, a pronounced mineral character and layers of fruit aromas. Descriptors include honeysuckle, apple, pear and quince. The ripeness of the grapes resulted in a great texture with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
